A French Château Wedding for Vogue

Olivia Ong and Previn Waran had an unexpected first encounter during a Cinco de Mayo date Olivia was on—with someone else. Previn, noticing her date’s difficulty securing a table at the Nomad, casually intervened and managed to get them seated. He joined for drinks but made a swift exit after realizing they were on a first date. However, fate had more in store. Previn later reached out, asking for Olivia’s number, and thirteen months later, he proposed in Paris against the stunning backdrop of the Luxembourg Gardens.
The couple chose the picturesque Château de Carsix in Normandy for their wedding weekend, hosting a three-day celebration with most of their 117 guests staying on-site. Surrounded by rolling wheat fields, the château’s understated French elegance provided the ideal setting for their vision. Olivia was radiant in a drop-waist Rebecca Schoneveld gown, paired with a Vera Wang mantilla veil, while Previn looked dashing in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo. The festivities began with a welcome dinner featuring classic French cuisine, followed by a jazz performance by Stephane Wrembel and a nostalgic screening of The Princess Bride.

For their ceremony, Olivia and Previn emphasized themes of partnership, equality, and service, even including a reading from Obergefell v. Hodges. In a heartwarming surprise, Olivia’s mom serenaded the couple with “I Can’t Help Falling in Love” during their first dance. The night continued with a vibrant ‘90s hip hop after-party, complete with an ice cream cart, burger truck, and custom after-party cups. The celebration stretched until 4 a.m., closing out a weekend filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
