Neoclassical, Reimagined: An Editorial at Villa Pizzo, Lake Como

Villa Pizzo sits on the western shore of Lake Como and doesn’t ask for much attention. The neoclassical architecture, the terraced gardens stepping down toward the water, the way stone and overgrowth meet somewhere in the middle — the estate has a character that shifts depending on where you stand and what the light is doing. It doesn’t look the same twice.
That quality was the starting point. Anna Lord built the shoot around the contrast that defines the setting, classical grandeur brought into conversation with modern fashion, and the villa held up its end without any help.
The fashion did real work here. Two couture gowns by Dylan Parienty Paris, distinct enough that they didn’t feel like variations on the same idea. The first a modern ball gown, layered chiffon with a sweeping train that moved through the gardens without any fuss. The second sharper, closer, lace flowers and fringe, better suited to the architectural interiors. Both held their own against a venue that could easily overpower whatever you put in front of it.
Chiara Sperti’s florals landed in the same register. A colour-blocked ceremony arch in peach and blush, bold enough to read against centuries-old stone without trying to compete with it. NKT Events carried that through into the reception, velvet linens, candlelit tablescapes, rich without being heavy.
The editorial ended on the water. A boat ride out onto the lake, away from the villa’s walls, which turned out to be the right call. Como’s pull has always been the way the setting just keeps going.
